One problem had to do with people being divided from each other by computers even when they share physical space. So, our Zapotan Think Tank in Mexico came up with the idea of a sort of physical facebook status to affix to your computer:

Where are the senses in digital learning? True connection and synergy are enhanced by the engagement of all our senses and the exchange on a sensory level with others…

Here’s what we made, with the help of a laser cutter and some hardware store grommets:

This is SO fun and amazing! I would love to have something like this for my computer. Would it be OK if we made something like this here? Any credit we should give to you? Also, what are the other updates you included?

Thank you so much for this fun idea!

Would love the files as well. Great idea!

Not sure if this is still monitored, but I’d love to get some of these and pass them out. I think it’d really lighten things up. Any chance I could get a copy of the file as well?

Neat idea, helping people to connect as people beyond technology. A suggestion: make the “statuses” easier to read from a distance, or even better, use color coding. It’s already hard to connect with people, no one wants to look like a creep trying to squint at your laptop status. Make it easy to read/interpret from afar.
