ZKM Install!
Well, the digital beast is in place! Built in a former equestrian training center in the suburbs of Karlsruhe, piled onto a trailer built to transport small airplanes, towed by a bright orange vintage Ford Transit to the much swanker, starker, technological climes of ZKM Contemporary Art Center.
Then flipped and stacked onto the largest scissor-lift I have personally experienced to rise 3 flights into the air, where it was finally dragged into place, reassembled, and wired!
Thanks so much to Andy and Stefan our wonderful carpenters for their ever-flexible help on this crazy project (as I noted, I want these things to look like something people would see and think ‘I could make that, if I were crazy enough…’ , to Kevin Patton for setting up the blinking button/ video booth, and Anne, Anne and Antonia for making this possible! We know we are a moving target, so thanks for your patience and perserverance. The install looks great!
Of course, the install is “only” a part of these Ghana ThinkTank enterprises, so thanks to Raffi and his Parkour crew for teaching people to see their city diferent; the Elders of Karlsruhe for sharing their Funny, Dirty stories with us; our eager cross-culture chess-players, the West African Immigrants for attending the opening (for a fee), and our improv theater group for re-enacting telenovella scenes as life (can’t wait to see those public bitch-slaps).
Finally, our think tanks, for coming through with such exciting, inventine, and probing solutions for us to enact. Thank you Ghana and Serbia and Gaza Strip and Palestine and Mexico and Cuba!
It just keeps getting better! Damn I am beat!
