Problem: The Theatre here shows crap. They don’t do anything for today… just for old people.

Solution: To the boring plays in the theater> Make what we call here Hapenings, this means taking a public place by assault and develop a play there. We concretlly suggest to make a week long «Novela» (Maria la del barrio, Marimar, Cuna de Lobos, La Madrastra…) so that you show in the street very human and dramatic situations, such as two women bitch/slapping each other over a man, or a girl breaking up with her partner.

Action: We have been working with an improv theater group in Germany, watching lots of Telenovellas, and together we created this synopsis, translating the scripts to a German context. They will be performing adaptations of this synopsis this Friday, on the street and at the opening at the museum, as if it were happening as real life.

And yes, there will be bitch slaps.

Synopsis
A young woman from the ghetto comes to work in a wealthy family´s estate and her intense sexual energy upsets the delicate balance of power and denial in the house.

The household is controlled by a beautiful but hard-hearted woman named Gertrud. She is embittered by her husband´s past infidelity and suffers tremendous headaches during which she hallucinates that she is burning in hell. In a moment of feigned concern for her well- being Felix suggests that she hire some extra help around the house. Gertrude hires Alba, an innocent and beautiful young Turkish girl from the local orphanage. Immediately, Felix notices Alba´s beauty but so does Erhard, the quietly intense young man who tends to the grounds. Gertrud is angered by the attention that the men of the house are paying to her new servant and goes to great lengths to belittle Alba who meekly accepts her attacks. One night after dinner Felix, drunk, attempts to force himself on Alba. Gertrud sees the interaction and flies into a private rage. Alba, escapes when Erhad enters the room which distracts Felix and allows her to slip away. Later that night Gertrud pretends to want to talk with Felix and offers him a poisoned drink in their chambers. Felix becomes immediately ill and as he is dying Gertrude tells him that Ehard is actually her son with his brother and not a half Polish orphan that she adopted while abroad. Erhard overhears their conversation and is shocked to tears. He composes himself and vows revenge for the years of lies. He sets fire to the house killing Gertrude as she sits gloating over Felix´s dead body. As Ehard watches the house burn he hears Alba screaming and runs to rescue her. He pulls her to him confessing his love for her. Initially, Alba refuses him, slapping him squarely as he kisses her. He insists again, holding her to him screaming, we are all that we have, we are the future. They commit to rebuilding their wealth and home in Germany.
