Hiring African Immigrants to Attend German Social Functions

After passing several towering churches built centuries ago, we roll up on the church we will be attending, the Christliche Gemeinde Jesus für alle Nationen (“All Christian Believers’ Fellowship”), which is housed in a large garage with a huge Garage Door.

As the Pastor pointed out later, when he opened it to help cool the place down in the middle of service, “we are Unique in Karlsruhe. I think we should market this more…”

We were here to hire Africans to attend German Social functions in order to increase diversity, a holdover from one of our first Ghana ThinkTank projects that we have re-applied in several cultures now, because “lack of diversity” seems to be a problem that comes up again and again. (and when it doesn’t it seems, “there are too many foreigners here” swoops in to replace it…)

Anyway, we were told we could find many willing Africans at this Church when we walked through the more “diverse” part of Karlsruhe the day before. It was really quite striking how suddenly the race of our fellow pedestrians changed.

After three hours of singing and praising and crying and the occasional person throwing himself on the floor (the woman next to me began to speak in tongues – I had never seen that before), we began to sign contracts with our first “Agents of Cultural Diversity.”

2. Performance of Duties
The Employee agrees that during the Employment Period s/he shall devote his or her full business time to the business affairs of the Artist and shall perform his or her duties faithfully and efficiently subject to the direction of the Artist and as stipulated below:

3. Compensation

(b) S/he shall receive an hourly salary, payable on 16, September, 2011, at 2200 in a single installment, in an amount which shall be [€ amount].

I was surprised how matter-of-factly everyone treated the whole process, including “I am sorry, I cannot hire you because you are white.”
